| Besides the wildlife, I discovered that this is also a location favored by scuba divers. Then as I walked along I found two divers enjoying their day, just as I did on my urban hike. |

Happy Grandsgiving Hiking Grand Ridge Park
![]() |
| It was so nice to have company on my Grand Ridge, post-Thanksgiving hike. I'd never hiked with a Kitty Kat before. |
![]() |
| Near Seattle, scenes of the sun in November are always picture worthy. |
![]() |
| And here the trail passes through a beautiful tree doorway. |
![]() |
| Can you see the face and arms of moss tree man? |
![]() |
| And here's a mossy glen. |
![]() |
| One of the several, helpful wooden bridges built by the Washington Trails Association. Many thanks to the volunteers who work so hard to build these bridges and make our hike much easier. |
![]() |
| Happy ferns and other young plants growing on a decaying log, as the forest rejuvenates |
![]() |
| There are animal sightings including bears, cougars, owls and chipmunks, and more. This day all I saw was our hiking Kitty Kat. |

Chasing Waterfalls
![]() |
| My friend Barb insisted these are diamonds sparkling in the trees instead of raindrops. She may be right, or these may be early Christmas trees with strings of lights. |
![]() |
| Now this is what I call a waterfall! It's actually named Boulder Falls |
![]() |
| And look what's just ahead! Once we saw this around the corner, we quickened our pace with excitement |
![]() |
| The tremendous, thunderous power of water |
![]() |
| Here you can see the trail we followed, and the trampled, wet leaves |
![]() |
| Just by the side of the trail, yes winter is on the way |

When You're Short On Time
![]() |
| My camera caught this bunny on the verge of a hop |
![]() |
| And one more makes 3 bunnies in the field |
![]() |
| You'll also see regal fowl, or at least they seem to pose as if they're outdoor royalty |
![]() |
| Really, you never know what surprise is around the bend of an urban trail |

Hiking the Beach at Redondo - A Joy
![]() |
| Obviously polka dots are in this season at the beach. This bird looks so much like a Eurasian curlew, although they aren't normally seen on the Pacific coast. I think this is some type of curlew. |
![]() |
| Others walking on the beach along with me |
![]() |
| A resting Heerman's seagull |
![]() |
| A variety of sights to enjoy and activities make long walks along the beach so enjoyable, including the occasional volleyball game |
![]() |
| So, you may be asking yourself, where is Redondo Beach? Well this information may help you. |
![]() |
| With a long expanse of beach starting at the Redondo Pier and stretching all the way down the coast to the Palos Verdes Peninsula, there's plenty of space for anyone looking for a little sand spot of their own |
![]() |
| It was a great day for the locals who came out to catch a wave. Many of the surfers were local teens |
![]() |
| Enjoying their conversation and waiting for the right one. Lots of patience on a beautiful day like this |
![]() |
| Watching the sails through the spray from the waves on the rock outcropping |
![]() |
| Suddenly popping up from the water after his fish lunch, this Black Brandt Cormorant hopped onto the rock outcropping and enjoyed the warm sun |
![]() |
| There was lots of wing shaking and outspread wing turning involved in this cormorant's sunbathing |
![]() |
| A couple of the young surfers take a break |
![]() |
| Heading out |
![]() |
| Surfers in the foreground, and the fun Redondo Pier in the background. A great place for shops, restaurants, arcade, and a great boardwalk |
![]() |
| Impromptu conference, but this place is not just for the birds. |
![]() |
| An exciting and relaxing day well spent. Memories to sustain through the Pacific Northwest winter |
